Haunted Bella Maggiore Inn ~ Ventura CA

July 22nd - 23rd: Joe and I visited Ventura, CA and stayed at the infamous haunted Bella Maggiore Inn, staying in the haunted room #17. It was quite a Haunting Adventure.

EMF Readings* ~ Upon arriving at around 1:00 pm we started taking EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) readings. We found room 17, and the second floor of the hotel to have very high readings, exceeding 5.0. The only area at that time which didn't display high readings was the sitting room. Hotel staff was questioned regarding the high EMF in the area, and they could not provide any explaination for this. A "look about" inside and outside the hotel and room area found no high power wiring or power lines, the only electonic devices operating in the room was a small ceiling fan, and a free standing fan. We did another baseline reading around 7 pm and found the fields to be inconsistant ranging from low to medium range. Reading from 11 pm recorded low range. The following morning 7/23, the readings were inconsistent to low. Normal? NO ~ Paranormal? Perhaps, although I feel it was.

EVP (Electronic voice phenomenon) Findings ~ At this time, they are still being reviewed by other paranormal experts and professionals, for 2nd opinions. Although, we were able to validate some audio recordings that we captured. Apparent sound of a door or drawer opening and closing within the room when no one was there. This was taken in the afternoon hours when we were out for a stroll and dinner. NO ONE else had access to our room (17) at all. A female voice is also heard speaking just before and after the sounds of the door/drawer is opening and/or closing. A return visit to try to duplicate this is forcoming SOON! We are anxious to see exactly where this came from. Further EVP findings will be on the update of this post ASAP.

Video using camcorder w/IRM lighting ~ Sheets on Joe's lower leg and feet being tugged 3 times within 2 minutes. No apparent sign of "man-made" action to cause this action. We are having a video expert review and confirm this portion of video caught. Will post on my YouTube as soon as this operation is complete.

Photos ~ First, I must state that Joe, my husband is a very good "spirit photograher" and always takes a 3-shot series of an area of interest so there is a valide comparison before and after something appears. One particular photo in the sitting room taken around 11 pm shows a double orb and a manifested mist that had formed around the orb. The orb theory is that they are either spirit energy or, balls of energy which spirits/entities use to manifest. Many orbs were captured on photos ranging in size and density. A radiant orb, also known as radiant energy orb was taken while I was standing by the bed and this appears on the headboard. It is a "worm like" orb w/intense energy and clarity. Once I figure out how to post multiple pictures to the blog site, I will post some for others to view. We found most of the orb activity was around the main table in the sitting room although the double orb and mist was found toward the back of the room next to sleeping room #5 which is also reported being haunted by a small female child.

We are looking forward to a return visit to the Bella Maggiore Inn within the next couple of months. I will post updates on any further finding on this Haunted Adventure.

Chicago Trip ~ April 2010

Well, it's been a long time but I'm finally getting some time to post a few adventures shared in Chicago. We were able to do so much ~ and document a lot of travel fun. Went to Bachelors Grove the second day we were there. Met up w/Mike, the organizer and Grove preservationist. Got a complete tour and history report on the Grove from Rick, who grew up in the area and is kind of an aide to Mike. Saw the tombstone where the Lady in White is seen and also the infamous pond where Al Capone dumped bodies (interesting and eerie I may say). Southern Michigan Paranormal group was in the cemetery while we were there and we got to chat w/them a bit but didn't go too far w/them because they were busy doing EVP work and investigating. Good to meet them though.

Our other haunting adventure was to visit the Mt. Carmel Cemetery where a lot of famous gangsters are buried, Al Capone and his "family" being one of the plots there. Was lots of fun doing siteseeing, picture taking and exploring.

Unfortunately, I have nothing to report that is of paranormal question although, I can't say it enough... It was a wonderful and successful vacation and I am looking forward to visiting again and meeting up with some of the contacts we met in the "otherwise" field of ... Haunting Adventures.

The day before ~ Getting ready! Chicago, IL

Well tomorrow morning LB -> O'Hare ~ Noel and I leave for Naperville Illinois to visit family and do some site seeing. More anxiety then excitement right now, but I know everything is going to be just fine! Butterflies in my stomach today!

I have been packing my bags... have all my "hunting/investigating" equipment that I can take with me. Although, it's minimal on this trip, it is all I should need.

Not sure exactly what the day to day schedule is but we do plan (at least I plan! ha ha)on going to: Bachelor's Grove Cemetery; Resurrection Cemetery; Mt. Carmel Cemetery; Historic Clark St. see the site of St. Valentine's massacre; "the City" would like to see about going to Congress Plaza Hotel while there is lots of paranormal activity, if time allows; Harpo Studios; and, Wrigley Field ~ we'll see what all we can fit it though... Am looking forward to seeing my son-in-law's family as well, they live in Addison. Great times to be spent w/Noel's family BIG TIME. And, her granddaughter Brookes' cupcakes.

I don't know if I'll have much time, or computer availabity to post the progress during this week away although, I'll be keeping a journal and post the adventures upon return.

The planning for the Chicago trip is moving along great. So far we've Bachelors Grove and Mt Carmel cemetary, and "the City", on the plans. I'd also like to check out some haunted homes and/or hotels, if time allows. Getting in touch w/some paranormal groups and hope to see Chicago Paranormal Detectives during this visit. The paper is out and we're writing possible adventures down. Also, I'm looking forward to spending time with some family while visiting, so it's not all about the fun of my haunting adventures, it's also about the fun of being with family and friends!

Starting to plan my trip to the Chicago area. So far I know I'll (we) visit Bachelors Grove, and some old cemeteries. I've read a lot on sites to visit for active paranormal activity ~ just not sure exactly which ones I should go to. Any suggestions??
